Fostering Creativity and Independence in Our Kids

We all want what is best for our kids...

Research has shown that children thrive through open-ended play, which allows them to explore and develop critical skills such as creativity, confidence, and resilience.

By embracing this approach, we can help our children grow and prepare for an unpredictable future.

We know play is important...

BUT sometimes there are things that stop us:

We get it… it can be hard. BUT the time and effort is well worth the investment.

With the right advice your kids will play more independently, learn authentically and be all around happier kids.

So how do we do that?

Understand why play is important and why it should be prioritized

As a parent, I know how easy it is to get caught up in the daily grind of schedules and routines. However, since discovering the power of play – it has completely transformed mine and my children’s lives. Through play, my kids have not only learned important skills like problem-solving and creativity, but also gained confidence and resilience. Despite the many benefits of play, it’s often overlooked or deprioritized in a world that emphasizes academic achievement and structured activities.

I want to share what I’ve learned with you, so you too can prioritize play in your children’s lives and watch them thrive.

Set up the space to encourage independence and play

The environment in which our children play can have a big impact on their growth and development. A play space that encourages my children to explore, create, and play independently is an essential part of our home. And the results have been amazing! My kids are more confident and empowered, and they love spending time in their special play area. I want to share my successes with you, so you too can create a space that inspires your child’s imagination and independence.

Master the art of play invitations

As parents, we all want our children to engage in meaningful play and authentic learning experiences. But sometimes it can be challenging to know how to invite our little ones into play without taking over or interfering with their exploration. That’s where the art of invitation comes in.We’ll share tips and strategies for setting up invitations to play that spark your child’s curiosity and creativity. From sensory bins to loose parts play, we’ll offer practical ideas that are easy to implement and sure to delight your child.

Be a facilitator in your children's play

We all want to support our children’s learning and development in every way we can. One of the most effective ways to do this is by being a facilitator in our children’s play. Rather than directing or controlling their play experiences, we can create a supportive and nurturing environment that allows them to explore and experiment in their own way. We’ll explore different ways to facilitate your child’s play, from asking open-ended questions to providing materials and resources that inspire creativity and imagination.
